To the Sustainable Backcourt Initiative web site. The SBI works to get residents and landlords involved in improving and using their tenement backcourts.
Currently, 65% of Glasgow’s population live in tenements, so their backcourt is their closest green space for play, socialising, gardening or just getting some fresh air. However many backcourts in all areas of the city are ignored and left as empty and messy lost spaces.
The SBI Network wants to make links between all the organisations who are working hard on this issue – in Glasgow and in other cities. Join us at the SBI Network – which is free – here
If you are thinking of improving your backcourt, this website will provide ideas, examples and resources to help you. The SBI has made their current resources available here, and members are adding new information and suggestions regularly.
If you have recently done work to your backcourt, we would love to hear about it. Download your plans, pictures and experiences (good and bad) so others can share and learn from you.
You probably have a couple of questions:
- What is a sustainable backcourt?
- Who is the Sustainable Backcourt Initiative?
- What does the Sustainable Backcourt Initiative do?
